Ann Ciccarelli, Board of Education President, and the Board have adopted and defended policies that many parents believe could seriously affect children and parental rights in the district.

"On June 15, the president of the School District of the Chathams Board of Education in New Jersey told parents assembled for a board meeting that their constitutional rights don't matter: Mirabelli v. Bonta, she claimed, 'is not binding on public school districts in New Jersey.'

That's not true. And we quickly told them so, alerting the board not only to what Mirabelli held but to another Supreme Court decision the prior year that held that parents may pull their children out of school lessons that conflict with their faith. It refused to rescind or amend a line.

So, this week, on behalf of Moms for Liberty, Thomas More Society sued the district in federal court in New Jersey.

Here's what the district's Policy 5145.7 still permits today:

* A counselor may decide alone whether a child's asserted 'gender transition' is ever mentioned to her parents.
* A student who declares a different gender identity may use the opposite sex's locker rooms and changing facilities, and join its teams, with no advance notice to families.
* Children may be referred to outside LGBTQ and transgender advocacy organizations without parental notice or consent.
* Students and parents face discipline for 'harassment, intimidation, or bullying' if they decline to use a classmate's chosen name, including for things said off campus.

That last provision is especially dystopian, covering speech even outside school. The school district claims it can tell students and parents what to say or not say at their own kitchen table."

REMOVE THE PRESIDENT and board members who support the president. They are going against the Supreme Court. The consequences of doing nothing to protect your children will be detrimental to the children year after year.
