This year, all seven students recognized for excellence were female, although one of the recipients identifies as a boy. Seeing this outcome caused me to wonder whether male students have the same opportunities for recognition and achievement as their female classmates.

I fully support recognizing excellence wherever it is found. At the same time, when every student acknowledged in a particular category comes from one sex, it naturally raises questions about whether the criteria, selection process, or school culture may unintentionally favor some students over others.

I would appreciate any information you can provide regarding how students are nominated and selected for these honors, and whether the school reviews award outcomes to ensure that all students are being encouraged and recognized fairly.

My intention is not to diminish the accomplishments of any student who received recognition. Rather, I hope to better understand how the school ensures that boys and girls alike are given equal opportunities to excel and be acknowledged for their achievements.

What is a Character Attack?
